Andrew McIntosh To Lead Victoria Legal Aid Panel Of Independent Reviewers
Attorney-General Martin Pakula today announced the appointment of The Hon Andrew McIntosh as the new chairperson to the Victorian Legal Aid (VLA) Panel of Independent Reviewers.
Mr McIntosh replaces His Honour John Nixon, former Judge of the County Court, who is stepping down from the role after three years of service.
Mr McIntosh’s strong legal background and commitment to public service makes him a valuable addition to the panel.
Mr McIntosh served as a member of the Legislative Assembly in the seat of Kew from 1999 to 2014, and as a former Minister responsible for Corrections, Crime Prevention and the Establishment of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
He holds a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tasmania.
He began his career as a solicitor in 1983 and was a barrister from 1985 to 1999. Mr McIntosh was secretary of the Victorian Bar Council from 1995 to 1996.
Mr McIntosh joins Brook Hely and Carmel Morfuni on the VLA Panel of Independent Reviewers.
