Recognising Victoria’s Women Leaders And Experts

The Andrews Labor Government is promoting Victorian women as subject matter experts, leaders and spokespersons.

Minister for Women Natalie Hutchins joined members of the Victorian Women’s Trust to relaunch the Here She Is! directory.

Here She Is! is an online directory featuring hundreds of women leaders from a range of backgrounds and disciplines.

The directory allows the public to search for leading women and their contact details based on field of expertise.

Women are still under represented as keynote speakers and presenters at major conferences and events, in leadership positions and in the media.

Currently Australian women represent less than 23 per cent of all sources quoted in the news despite making up 50 per cent of the population.

With continued investment through Safe and Strong, Victoria’s Gender Equality Strategy, Here She Is! aims to address this gender bias by showcasing hundreds of talented women in one place.

“In 2018, there’s no reason why a newspaper shouldn’t be able to find a woman to quote on science, the law or business. Here She Is! gives the public access to hundreds of profiles.”
