$2 Million In Grants To Boost Landcare Across Victoria
The Andrews Labor Government today announced that $2 million will be available in 2015-16 for the next round of Victorian Landcare Grants (VLG).
Parliamentary Secretary for the Environment, Anthony Carbines, said new and existing Landcare groups and networks across the state would be able to apply for a grant to address local environmental priorities.
As well as funding on-ground works, the VLG program also provides maintenance grants to existing groups and start-up grants for new groups.
These grants will help to offset operating costs and provide a stable base for Landcare across Victoria.
The funding will be delivered through Victoria’s ten catchment management authorities, who will call for expressions of interest from local Landcare groups and networks.
On top of the Victorian Landcare Grants, the Government also supports Landcare with funding for 68 on-ground facilitators, 10 regional coordinators and the Victorian Landcare Awards.
Mr Carbines also said the Government would soon commence its review of the Victorian Landcare Program, providing the Landcare community with an opportunity to provide feedback on what is working well and what could be improved in the program.
