Drum Caught Out As Labor Government Safeguards Sports Shooting

Nationals member for Northern Victoria, Damian Drum has been caught out misleading Victorians again on sports funding.

Contrary to Mr Drum’s false claims, the Andrews Labor Government is funding the Country Football Netball Program and the Shooting Sports Facilities Program. The programs are part of the Labor Government’s commitment to improving sports and recreation facilities for all Victorians.

The Labor Government has appointed a Shooting Sports Facilities Program advisory committee, chaired by former Minister for Agriculture, Joe Helper, as well as Russell Bate, Russell Pearson, Clive Whelan and Marion Barnes. Each member brings years of experience in sports shooting and an understanding of the industry’s needs.

The committee will meet in the coming weeks to review existing applications and the guidelines for funding, so that more organisations are eligible.

The Labor Government is committed to safeguarding the future of sports shooting in Victoria.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Sport, John Eren

“Just like the Country Football Netball Program, the Shooting Sports Facilities Program is continuing. The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with the job of improving sport and recreation facilities for all Victorians.”

“We won’t be taking lectures from Damian Drum and the Coalition, especially after their savage cuts to services across Victoria.”
