Government Takes Action To Protect Victorian Health

The Andrews Labor Government will make an urgent application to the Fair Work Commission to terminate industrial action being taken by the Health Services Union No 1 Branch (HWU) and Dorevitch Pathology.

Dorevitch provides pathology services under contract to 32 Victorian public health services, 29 of which are in regional Victoria.

The industrial action, which is already causing delays in pathology services and patient diagnosis, is threatening patient safety and welfare.

There is currently an indefinite lockout of at least 89 HWU members and an indefinite stop work ban.

An application will be lodged under section 424 of the Fair Work Act seeking Fair Work Commission orders to terminate the industrial action.
