Response To Loy Yang Fair Work Commission Decision

The Andrews Labor Government has welcomed the decision of the Fair Work Commission to accept the application for the termination of industrial action at AGL Loy Yang.

This decision will protect Victoria’s power supply.

Without this action by the Victorian Government and the decision by the Fair Work Commission, AGL would have commenced shutting Loy Yang A down today.

The Victorian Government sought termination of this industrial action on the grounds that there would be significant personal and economic harm to the community if it went forward.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Industrial Relations Natalie Hutchins:

“I welcome the decision of the Fair Work Commission to grant my application to terminate employer and union industrial action at Loy Yang.”

“We took this action on behalf of Victorian families and businesses to protect our state’s power supply.”
