Top VCE Performers Recognised At Premier’s VCE Awards

The top 279 students from the 2014 Victorian Certificate of Education were recognised in a ceremony at the Melbourne Convention Centre today.

Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Education James Merlino joined the Governor of Victoria, the Honourable Alex Chernov, to present the students with their awards.

Mr Andrews presented the 19 Top All-Round VCE High Achiever awards, recognising those students who achieved study scores of 46 or higher (out of a possible 50) in five or more VCE subjects.

Students received 283 study awards in 109 studies – recognising the very best performers in individual VCE subjects, and the top three international students were also recognised.

At the ceremony, Mr Andrews acknowledged the late Joan Kirner’s vision for the Victorian Certificate of Education, which made final assessments fair and established a level playing field for students.
