Traditional Owners Called On For Council

Traditional Owners are invited to apply for one of five positions on the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council.

Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Natalie Hutchins, said Council members played an important role in providing advice on cultural heritage matters, appointing Registered Aboriginal Parties and promoting awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and heritage.

Ms Hutchins said the Council was Australia’s only statutory decision-making authority with membership solely comprised of Traditional Owners.

Victorian residents with traditional or familial links, extensive knowledge of Aboriginal cultural heritage and time to commit to Council duties are encouraged to apply by 11 May 2015.
