Backing Melbourne’s First And Only Indigenous Radio Station

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting Melbourne’s first and only indigenous radio station, giving Aboriginal people a voice.

Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Natalie Hutchins today announced a grant of $50,000 for the 3KnD – Kool and Deadly, radio station.

3KnD provides a voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, arts, culture and politics in Melbourne.

It broadcasts 24 hours a day providing the local Aboriginal community with an opportunity to reach out and celebrate their culture.

Today’s funding will be used to determine the viability of refurbishing and relocation of 3KnD from temporary facilities to a permanent location in Preston.

The grant is from the Labor Government’s Aboriginal Community Infrastructure program, which has invested $14.6 million to improve service delivery, as well as the cultural connectedness and wellbeing of communities.

A second round of the program will be open shortly.
