DITCHING THE DOUBLE DROP-OFF IN DEANSIDE

Families in Melbourne’s north western suburbs will soon be able to ditch the double drop-off and send their children to a new state-of-the-art kindergarten and school on the same site.

The Andrews Labor Government today announced Deanside Primary School Kindergarten will open in Deanside in 2022.

The kindergarten will be on the Deanside Primary School site at Conservatory Drive, Deanside, which is also due to be finished in 2022.

The Labor Government, in partnership with Melton City Council, is delivering the new two-room 66-place kindergarten which will include a high-quality learning environment and outdoor play space for local children. This facility will provide the community access to a new kindergarten service, until the future permanent kindergarten is built on the Council site next door.

The new on-site kindergarten, currently in construction, will also help children make a smooth transition to school and be easier on parents doing the school run.

Every new Victorian primary school set to open from 2021 will have a kindergarten on-site or next door, reducing the burden on parents and helping to build the Education State.

This project will also support Melton City Council as it prepares for the roll-out of the landmark Three-Year-Old Kindergarten reform in 2022.

In an Australian-first, the Labor Government is investing nearly $5 billion over this decade to deliver two years of funded kindergarten for all Victorian children.

The Labor Government has committed $1.68 billion over this decade for co-investments in early childhood infrastructure ─ the largest investment in early childhood infrastructure in the state’s history.

The Labor Government is also investing up to $169.6 million to make kinder free this year, saving families around $2,000 for every child enrolled in a participating funded kindergarten program.
