Melton Site To Join The Orange Door Network

The Andrews Labor Government is ensuring families have access to the family violence, child and family wellbeing services they need with a new site and partners secured for the Brimbank Melton Orange Door Network.

Minister for Prevention of Family Violence Gabrielle Williams today announced an additional location for the Brimbank Melton Orange Door Network, with a site in Melton to join the Sunshine location which is currently under construction.

Five local service partners will bring The Orange Door to Brimbank Melton – GenWest, Western Health, Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Services, Victorian Aboriginal Community Services Association and MacKillop Family Services – in partnership with the Victorian Government.

Residents in the Brimbank Melton region will be able to access the Orange Door by phone and email, face-to-face in Melton and Sunshine, and through outposted and outreach services across the region – ensuring help is available when families need it, closer to home.

The Orange Door Network is a free service for adults, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced family violence, and families needing support with the wellbeing and development of their children.

It brings together workers from specialist family violence, men’s, Aboriginal and child and family services, to provide coordinated, multi-disciplinary support, including crisis assistance and support, risk assessments, safety planning and wellbeing support.

The Orange Door network, a key recommendation of the landmark Royal Commission into Family Violence, has assisted more than 216,000 people across Victoria, including more than 87,000 children, since it commenced in 2018.

Victoria is leading the nation with its work to end family violence, with more than $3.7 billion invested since the Royal Commission into Family Violence – more than every other state and territory combined, and more than the Commonwealth.

The Orange Door in Brimbank Melton is on track to commence services later this year. More information about the Orange Door is available at orangedoor.vic.gov.au.
