UPDATE

I am pleased to announce that the Victorian Government has committed $6.1 million in the 2015-16 Victorian budget to the removal of the Taylors Rd-Kings Road roundabout.

After meeting with the Minister for Roads and Road Safety many times throughout 2015 and 2016 regarding this troubled intersection I welcome this funding.

Currently, the contract for the works is out for tender. Once telecommunication and utilities works are completed construction will begin and it is expected to be completed by late 2017.

The Victorian Government will:

• Remove the roundabout

• Relocate utilities

• Install traffic signals

• Install Pedestrian crossings and

• Install Bicycle lanes

The removal of this infamous roundabout will be much welcomed by the many pedestrians, cyclists and commuters who can look forward to less congestion and improved safety.

The 2015-16 Victorian State budget has secured $6.1 Million to fix the intersection at Kings Road and Taylors Road.

The Member for Sydenham, Natalie Hutchins, has stated that “Labor has committed $6.1 million to fix the infamous roundabout located at the Taylors Road and Kings Road intersection.”

“Before the election last year, I took Luke Donnellan, the Minister for Roads, to the Delahey roundabout during the morning peak period, so it is great to see that funding has been secured to improve the congestion and safety of this key intersection.”

“I met with many residents and organisations that were concerned with this roundabout,  it was clear that something had to be done.”

“I am pleased that we now have a state government that is investing in Melbourne’s West.”

The previous Liberal government failed to deliver for the Sydenham electorate. In contrast, the Andrew’s Labor government is investing in key Sydenham infrastructure.

This shows that only a Labor Government will deliver on key local infrastructure.
