Long Service Leave Bill 2017
Ms HUTCHINS (Minister for Industrial Relations) — Certainly this bill goes to making the Long Service Leave Act more accessible, more modern, to the current workforce. It looks at making amendments to the leave entitlements under the act so that they are in line with the commonwealth Fair Work Act 2009 and the standards around parental leave being able to be taken up for two years without a break in continuous service when it comes to the entitlements of long service leave. The bill also protects those workers who may transition from business to business due to the sale of their business in being able to have the protections of their entitlements transferring across, and there are also provisions in the bill to make the act clearer and more easy to read for both employers and employees.
Motion agreed to.

That I have leave to bring in a bill for an act to make provision for the long service leave entitlements of certain employees, to repeal the Long Service Leave Act 1992, to make consequential amendments to various other acts and for other purposes.
